Comox Centennial Building

The new wing of this complex provides new and expanded fitness and multipurpose space to the existing community facility, which is appropriate for “Buildings that are likely to be used as post-disaster shelters”.

The Town of Comox pride itself on providing community facilities and programmes for all age groups and abilities.  Careful attention to detail in the design ensures full enjoyment, access, and use of a new facility by all members of the community.

The wing is approximately 13,000sq.ft./1,200m² and includes a fitness studio, fitness annex, sub-dividable multipurpose space and additional ancillary spaces. The new space is designed to be a pleasant, people orientated facility and will serve as the jumping off point for the renovation and upgrade of the rest of the facility in the future.

VDA was Prime Consultant for this project.

The new wing of this complex serves as a fitness and multipurpose community facility and structurally has been assigned an Importance Category, as defined by the British Columbia Building Code, of “High” which is appropriate for “Buildings that are likely to be used as post-disaster shelters.”
